This Seamus Heaney portrait is an original digitally designed artwork by Irish artist Richie Delaney, created by pushing pixels and using vibrant colours to produce a bold and dynamic finish.
Richie's contemporary approach gives the portrait its own distinctive character, using colour and digital composition to create an energetic interpretation of one of Ireland's most important literary figures.
Best known for acclaimed poetry collections including Death of a Naturalist, North and Field Work, Seamus Heaney became one of the most influential poets of the twentieth century. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1995, Heaney became an enduring figure in Irish literary and cultural history.
Rather than creating a traditional painted portrait, Richie uses digital design to reinterpret Seamus Heaney in a contemporary style. The combination of colour, pixels and composition creates a vibrant piece of Irish digital art that celebrates both the character of Seamus Heaney and his lasting influence on poetry and literature.
